Tour of Britain will pass through GloucestershirePosted on 06th March 2016
The Tour of Britain, the biggest cycling event in the UK, will head through Gloucestershire on Thursday September 8.
Stage five of the race will pass through the county before the riders cycle onto Aberdare in South Wales and onto Bath, the stage finish.
The race passed briefly through Gloucestershire in 2014, where locals and those visiting on their cottage holidays in the Forest of Dean waved by cycling heroes Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish.
Speaking to Stroud News and Journal, Race Director Mick Bennett commented: “The stage will pass through the beautiful Forest of Dean and Gloucester for the first time ever, while a number of communities like Cinderford, Stroud and Dursley can also look forward to welcoming Britain’s biggest professional cycle race.”
The tour will start in Glasgow, Scotland on Sunday 4 and finish in London on Sunday September 11.
