The best bitter ale in Gloucestershire revealedPosted on 23rd July 2015
The best bitter ale in Gloucestershire has been decided this week after Gloucester Brewery’s Citras was crowned the best bitter in the county at the Campaign for Real Ale awards night.
The pale ale has become a favourite with brewers in the area and judges at the Campaign for Real Ale awards were equally impressed with the ale’s flavoursome taste, resulting in it winning the best bitter award.
Holidaymakers staying in Forest of Dean holiday cottages near to Gloucester and other visitors should definitely visit the Gloucester Docks-based brewery or its nearby real ale pub Tank to sample this award-winning beverage, which has a volume of 4.5 per cent.
Speaking to the Gloucester Citizen, assistant brewer Nick Fitzgerald said, “We had to work on this one as it required a bit of thinking to get it just right.”
Talking about winning the award, he added, “We were quite confident but it is always a surprise when you win something so this is great.”
