Forest of Dean is possible Star Wars filming locationPosted on 22nd May 2013
It has been predicted that the upcoming Star Wars motion picture, the production of which was confirmed earlier this year, is to use Gloucestershire’s beautiful Forest of Dean as a filming location, creating a wave of excitement amongst the UK’s movie fanatics.
The area has long been a popular site for filmmakers specialising in different genres due to its irresistible combination of stunning countryside and striking historic buildings; recent productions to have used the forest include Jack the Giant Slayer, which featured Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor, and Doctor Who.
The manager of the ancient woodland site Puzzlewood, Helen O’Kane, fuelled rumours by saying that ‘we have had someone scouting here recently…but I can’t say who’.
Whether or not the latest instalment of the hugely popular Star Wars franchise does end up being filmed here, the debate about the possibility has once again reminded potential visitors of the benefits of staying in one of the cosy holiday cottages in the Forest of Dean.
