The SportBeat Music and Sport Festival that is taking place on August 15th-16th in Gloucester could see a new world record get broken.

The SportBeat Festival attracts thousands of locals and families visiting the area as part of a cottage holiday in the Forest of Dean and now two local men are calling on festival goers to dress up as their favourite superhero characters in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record.

The current record for the most people dressed as superheroes stands at 1,580, but Jamie McDonald and his cousin Kev Brady are calling on visitors to the SportBeat Festival to come dressed up to surpass this figure, according to an article on the Gloucester Citizen.

Kev Brady added, “SportBeat is the perfect place for the world record attempt as it’s one time you can increasingly guarantee thousands of people will all be in the same place at the same time in the city.”

Organisers of this year’s SportBeat Festival have already announced that acts such as The Fratellis, De La Soul and 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur will be playing at the event. To find out more about the festival visit the SportBeat Festival website.
