The Film and TV walking trail that has been planned to celebrate all the productions that have been filmed in the Forest of Dean is set to open from December 16th.
The new trail will welcome holidaymakers on Wye Valley and Forest of Dean cottage holidays as well as locals who want to follow in the footsteps of their favourite characters.
With Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens, a film that was partly filmed at Puzzlewood in the Forest of Dean, set to be released on 17th December, it has been announced that the Film and TV trail will be officially opened to the public next week.
To help promote the new trail and the upcoming Star Wars film, Gloucestershire welcomed the Dark Side of the Force as Darth Vader and a group of Stormtroopers visited the Severn Bridge.
Speaking to the Stroud News and Journal, Mark Terry-Lush of Wye Valley & Forest of Dean Tourism, said, “The Sith Lord is not alone as over many years we have welcomed dragon slayers, several incarnations of Doctor Who and even Harry Potter.”
“The launch of the Film and TV Trail will help to record our role in so many blockbuster productions.”
Some other films and television programmes that have been filmed in the Forest of Dean include Jack the Giant Slayer, Merlin, Primeval, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Dr Who, The Huntsman, and Atlantis.
