Letter confirms Star Wars 7 was filmed in the Forest of DeanPosted on 07th November 2014
On the final day of filming, the cast and crew of Star Wars VII were handed a thank you letter, which appears to confirm that the Forest of Dean was used as a location for the new film.
The letter thanks the “extraordinary” cast and crew for working “from the deserts of Abu Dhabi, to the Forest of Dean, to the stages of Pinewood”. Speculations began in spring 2013, as mentioned in this previous article, when film crews descended on Puzzlewood, although they would not confirm or deny whether they were creating the new movie.
Scheduled for released in December 2015, the film is sure to encourage many tourists to visit the area, including those staying in Forest of Dean holiday cottages. However, this is not the first time that the Forest of Dean has been used as the setting for a production, with TV series’ Doctor Who and Merlin filmed in the forest too.
