Forest of Dean Spring Classic to become two-day eventPosted on 23rd January 2015
The Forest of Dean Spring Classic, a hugely popular road cycling race, will this year be a two-day event instead of a one-day event, allowing people holidaying in Forest of Dean cottages over the May Day Bank holiday weekend to see more of the famous road cycling event.
Wheels in Wheels Events announced that the race will return to Monmouth Town Centre for 2015 as the 11th Forest of Dean Spring Classic will feature the Monmouthshire Challenge on Sunday 3rd May before heading to the Forest of Dean on the Monday.
Last year the event only took place in the Forest of Dean, but due to its popularity organisers have made the race a two-day event covering more locations.
Double London Olympics gold-medallist Laura Trott last year won the women’s race and Peter Kennaugh of Team Sky won the men’s race.
Organisers are expecting huge crowds to turn out for the two races, which in total will see competitors cycle 145km and endure 20 individual climbs.
