Force is with the Forest of Dean as new Star Wars trail set to openPosted on 17th January 2015
Plans have been unveiled for a new TV and movie trail to be opened to the public in the Forest of Dean.
Future visitors residing in Forest of Dean cottages could be in for a treat as it was revealed that after scenes for the latest Star Wars movie were filmed in the area, a new walking trail is set to open. The path would take walkers to parts of the Forest of Dean that have featured in famous TV programmes and blockbuster Hollywood movies.
The Forest of Dean has become a mecca for high-budget productions, with the likes of Doctor Who, Merlin, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the soon-to-be-released Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens movie being among just some of the small and big screen productions filmed in the region.
The Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism Association is hoping to celebrate the release of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, the trailer of which can be seen below, by opening the path up at the same time the movie is released next winter.
Mark Terry-Lush, a director for the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism Association, told the Gloucester Citizen, “With links to Star Wars and Doctor Who, we want to try and turn this into a major attraction for the Forest and make it a real draw for this area.”
