Christmas lights switch-on update in GloucestershirePosted on 18th November 2015
The festive period officially starts for many people when the Christmas lights are put up and switched on, so here we take you through the events that have been confirmed across Gloucestershire.
Tewkesbury festival of Christmas lights
The festive season in Tewkesbury will truly begin on Sunday 22nd November, as not only will the Christmas lights be switched on, but a farmers market, fair and Christmas market stalls will be visiting the town too.
Cheltenham High Street
From 7pm on Thursday 26th November, the streets of Cheltenham will light up, and crowds will be joined for the event by Father Christmas and characters from the Disney film Frozen.
Lydney Christmas Lights
Those on Forest of Dean cottage holidays before Christmas should head to Lydney and see the lights being switched on from 6pm on Saturday 28th November.
Described by the Gloucestershire Echo as “a great evening for the children”, this lights switch-on, which takes place from 6.30pm on Saturday 28th November, will boast lots of fake snow and local performers.
Carol singing and lots of market stalls will welcome visitors heading to this Cotswold town and ITV West Country News’ Katie Rowlett will be switching on the lights on Thursday 3rd December.
On Friday 4th December, the lights on the famous tree on the river will be switched on at 6pm, with visitors able to go late night shopping and enjoy street food.
