BBC series visits Forest of Dean pubPosted on 29th April 2015
A new BBC Two series, which is helping restaurants and pubs search for the country’s best chefs, has featured a pub in the Forest of Dean.
The programme, which is called Chefs on Trial, is presented by Alex Polizzi and follows the hotelier and presenter of Channel 5 series The Hotel Inspector across the UK to help restaurants and pubs secure the best culinary talents for their business.
In the series it features the Miner’s Arms in Whitecroft where Polizzi meets the pub’s owners Mario and Karen Constantinides to help them find a head chef.
People who have previously stayed in holiday properties in the Forest of Dean will know all about the region’s renowned local culinary reputation and the programme gives viewers an insight into this and the interview process for the nine candidates going for the head chef position at the Miner’s Arms.
Speaking to the Gloucester Citizen, Karen Constantinides said, “The process of interviewing and putting candidates through their paces on camera was unusual to say the least, stressful, and as you may see from the programmes pretty emotional at times.”
