Balding spots Panther in Forest of Dean

Posted on 20th June 2014

Claire Balding, the well-known TV and radio presenter, has said that she spotted a giant black cat or panther near Ross-on-Wye in the north of the Forest of Dean.

Miss Balding said that she encountered the Black Panther while she was recording for a BBC Radio 4 programme called Ramblings.

During the programme Balding said, “It was the most enormous black cat. I mean really big, like a dog size.”

The region is more renowned for its beautiful scenery and walks with many people often staying in picturesque holiday cottages in the Forest of Dean for a breakaway, but now the news that a big, black cat has been spotted could attract even more people to the already popular region.

There have been many reported sightings of a big black cat in the Forest of Dean with some saying they saw a large black cat feeding on deer carcasses. This sighting, however, is the first from a professional broadcaster and reporter.
